Brave, the Disney Movie

Last night, my parents had me babysit my siblings and my little sisters friend while they went out.

So, I took advantage of having my license and took them all to see Brave.

Brave is a story about a Celtic princess who's mother forces her to act like a princess when all she wants to do is shoot her bow and go on adventures.

She then runs into trouble when her mother tries to force her to be wedded.

So the adventure begins.

I would give this movie a 5 star rating. It's different then most Disney movies. It focuses more on the values of family rather then finding Prince Charming. While throwing in a little Irish heritage tradition.

Extremely adorable, and I recommend everyone see it.

Crazy three days

The past three days I've been with the Oregon Military Teen Panel. We were discussing future things for our organization, and helping out at PROUD events and talking with military kids and helping them with things they may be worried about.

We also did a few fun things.

The first fun thing we did was Zip Line on one of the longest zip lines in the northwest.

Then we went to the Wildlife Safari and I saw kangaroos in real life for the first time, and flamingos.

It was amazing and we all had a fantastic time.

PDX

Hello everyone!
I'm sitting here at PDX airport in Portland, OR and I just witnessed something that I feel the need to share.

As I sat here, awaiting my flight, a little girl starts screaming, "MOMMA!" at the top of her lungs.
The woman next to me goes, "Good Lord! Someone get that child to shut up!"
As I turn around I see the girl run into the arms of her mother dressed in her Military uniform.

I looked at the woman, already tired of the rudeness of people, and I said,

"Look at that girls mother. I can tell you that this moment, the little girl will treasure for a lifetime. I myself have been through this situation twice. You have no idea the pain that child has gone through. Please take this as a learning experience. Not just the soldiers serve, us families do too."

So people who've read this, please understand that us military kids, are forced to grow up fast, and that moment when we see our loved one for the first time in a long time, we let out guard down and become a child for five minutes.

A Summer Routine

My weekly summer routine this summer consists of a few things:
1.) wake up at 6:30 sharp.
2.) get ready for swimming and leave the house by 6:40.
3.) swim until 9.
4.) be home by 10.
5.) take a nap.
6.) eat lunch.
7.) do some chores.
8.) go back to swimming at 5.
9.) come home around 7.
10.) eat dinner and sleep until next morning.

This isn't my schedule everyday, but it is most of the time.
It's a huge change for me because last summer I spent traveling Europe. And ever since then, I've done nothing but want to travel and see the world.
This summer, on top of this schedule, I plan on becoming fluent in one of the many languages I have started learning.
I encourage others to pick up a 2nd or even 3rd language this summer! (:

As my first post, I feel it's appropriate to tell everyone a little about myself.
My name is Delaney, I am currently in High School. My whole life I've been what people call a Military Brat, I've grown up with a dad in and out of the picture (for military things), I love to travel, and I try my best to keep an open mind and open eyes. With this blog, I want to tell my story, and many other military kid's stories, how I see life & how mine is going, and a few other random things here and there.
